Spring Storm Season is Approaching
OPEI: Prepare in advance for post-storm cleanup
Property owners should prepare before a storm hits by making sure they have the right outdoor power equipment and fuel on hand for post-storm cleanup, the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) advises. This could include chainsaws, generators, pruners, utility vehicles and safety gear. "Getting your chainsaw ready, filling up your fuel can and finding your work gloves [are] just as important as stocking up on toilet paper, bread and milk at the grocery store before a storm," said Kris Kiser, president and CEO of OPEI.
The preparedness advice from OPEI to property owners is especially relevant to those of us that supply the specialized parts, products and know-how critical to recovery after bad weather. As a trusted provider of power equipment to your community, your business is a critical local resource in the aftermath of a storm. If you're in an area that could potentially be affected by a storm, please consider the products and inventory levels needed to support your community in the case of trouble. Portable generators are critical when the power goes out. But don't overlook generator service and repair parts, fuel cans, 2-cycle, 4-cycle and bar & chain oils, fuel stabilizers, "canned" fuel like VP Racings ethanol-free gasoline and the parts and accessories necessary for safe and fast clean up like chainsaw service & repair parts, guide bars & saw chain and safety gear.
